I was born in Russia.
I then went travelling for eight years through
five dozen countries, backpacking, hiking,
learning and eventually teaching scuba diving,
sailing around the world, and am currently
living in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
More than 20 years ago, I started working with
traditional film cameras with only 24 shots
per roll, the photos cozy and familiar,
capturing moments into still frames that still
somehow breathe and feel alive. These days
I am still searching for those living moments in
digital form. I love to capture portraits and
candid, authentic emotions.
I love the depth of field that makes a picture
three dimensional. Photography, in my mind,
shouldn’t simply be a documentation of reality,
but a bright and vivid snapshot of memory.
